The YWAM DTS in Queenstown, New Zealand accepts around 16 students per school. YWAM stands for Youth With A Mission and is a global movement started in 1960 of Christians from many cultures, age groups, and Christian traditions dedicated to serving Jesus! A Discipleship Training School consists of a 3-month-long lecture phase at the base and a 2-3 month-long outreach phase (specific locations for outreaches are determined halfway through the lecture phase). It focuses on young adults with similar interests in using their passions for God's glory. The outreaches consist of cross-culture Bible distribution, evangelism, and mercy ministries.

As staff, there are base leaders, school leaders, outreach leaders, and base staff. They typically strive to bring vision to the base, reach out to the local community, mentor students, help with activities, serve on and off base, and much more.
